This past weekend, MyHome Warrior Rising win became a reality as we claimed the $150,000 grand prize at Warrior Rising’s Standup for Startups pitch competition in Salt Lake City. Competing against 12 exceptional veteran-led businesses, we took center stage to share our vision and inspire an audience of 2,500 people.
What Is Warrior Rising?
Warrior Rising empowers veterans by providing mentorship, funding, and a supportive community to launch and scale their businesses. Their mission is rooted in fostering innovation and offering a platform for veterans to continue serving—this time as leaders in entrepreneurship. The Standup for Startups competition is their flagship event, highlighting the ingenuity and determination of veteran-founded companies.
From Preparation to Victory
Winning wasn’t easy. Weeks of preparation went into crafting a pitch that captured the essence of MyHome. On Wednesday, we participated in a round-robin pitch practice with investors and mentors who gave us critical feedback.
Thursday was a high-stakes day, as the top 12 finalists pitched to a panel of seasoned judges. These judges, all successful investors and business leaders, evaluated every pitch with a sharp eye. Although the top three were chosen that day, we didn’t find out until Friday night who had made it.
The Fight Night and Finale
Thursday evening was Fight Night, an exciting event featuring amateur boxing matches and jaw-dropping raffle prizes like trucks and side-by-sides. It was a perfect prelude to Friday’s grand finale.
On Friday night, all 12 finalists stood on stage as the top three were revealed. When MyHome was announced, it was a surreal moment. With 2,500 people in the audience, we delivered our 7-minute pitch with passion and precision. The audience voted via QR code, and the results were in: MyHome won by a landslide.
